A SORT HARD TO FIND, THIS LAD IS: "ONE IN A MILLION"
12 years old 16.3 Grey Gelding.
Registered Irish Sports Horse (Full Green Irish Sports Horse Passport)
Sire: Carrabawn View
Dam: Millhill Fifth
bred by Patrick Kennedy.
Sibling to "Shear H2O"
£250 BSJA
Competed Scope novice
Regularly professionally schooled on the flat, has 3 correct, straight paces.
XC Schooled, Jumped everything boldly, carefully and accurately at Milton Keynes BE Course 1st time, inc ditches, water, devils dyke, steps, rails,
In same home for last 6 years!
I am not a serious competitor due to competition nerves , hence the gap in BSJA record (All 2004) but have enjoyed lots of low level, local SJ, XC and Dressage.
Having said that, I have regularly jumped him at home doing 1.00 + courses, he is and able to go straight out and compete at this level and above tomorrow.
He is worked regularly and correctly at home, minimum 6 days a week, Lunged and hacked out on a regular basis too, so is fit , happy, and ready for this season.
An unbelievable gent at shows, knows his job and just gets on with it. Will stand on the lorry/ trailer patiently without a fuss!
Perfectly happy with noise and cameras.
(He was used by the BBC program "Only Fools On Horses" For the promotional photography, where he stood in an arena with floodlights, cameras and loud speakers for the posing!)
200% in the heaviest traffic, will go anywhere for you. Hacks alone or in company, Total gent to handle in all ways.Clip, load, farrier, vet.
he lives happily alongside tractors, chickens, ducks and dogs!
Perfect Gent to handle in and out of the stable and field. Really affectionate too!
Never been sick or lame, I have never had to use a vet other than yearly flu jabs!
Absolutely no vices
Good doer in all respects.
Never had any problems with back, wind, legs, feet, allergies, or anything else!
Not so perfect bits, and the things that most people would not bother telling you about their horse.
He does not like having his face washed much, but if you untie him, he will stand for you.
He can occasionally spook if a bird rustles in a bush, but all he does is a short sideway's step, and I think most horses would do that, but it should be mentioned! Having said that, he has never spooked at a show or in open fields.
He will go 1st or last, but he can be competitive if you are planning to go to an extended canter/gallop, and the company are looking like they may think about getting past him!
Otherwise he is fine side by side, front or behind in all gaits other than canter and gallop
He works very correctly on the lunge, but can be a little lazy at times (Not always and I now have a nice long lunge whip!)
He will travel in a trailer, but only with the partition out and single breast bars.
(He will load himself though, in either lorry or trailer and travels beautifully)
He has a tiny, tiny splint on each front leg that are hardly noticeable, he has never been lame with them, and otherwise his legs and feet are completely clean and blemish free.
I have added these bits, as I feel I should be totally honest about every aspect of this horse, and it should save everyone a lot of questions! The content is accurate, neither exaggerated nor played down!
Totally Genuine reason for sale!
He has been a very good friend to me in the last 6 years, but 2008-2009 he shot up from 16h (his passport height) to 16.3.
Apparently, the Irish draught side of him, matured later, hence the sudden late growth.
I verified this with my vet, who assures me that this is certainly not unusual but confirmed he will now stay at 16.3
Problem is I am 8st and 16h was already a bit big for me to start with, so I now feel totally "Over Horsed"
He would make a fantastic Pre-Novice/Novice Eventer. (which is what he was bred for) He has the advantage over most with his added show jumping credentials, and lovely paces on the flat.
I want to do the right think for this very lovely boy and see him go on, so:
Experienced 5* Approved Home only
"Please no teenagers just wanting a ride for the season, nervous novices or dealers"
I am looking for a long term quality home for him.
"Homes will be inspected"
Since this is a sad and painful sale, he can be seen at my friends Livery yard, (Just a little way from my house) and ridden by Kate Gregory (BHSI) in the 1st instance.
He lives at home with me, but Kate has kindly offered to help soften the blow for me!
£5,000 (Tack and rugs not included, but can also be purchased)
