10 July 2010 - Popular livery yard opens new riding club.
|
Lower Farm Press Release
Lower Farm Stables in Lavendon has just begun a new venture, a riding club for clients of the centre. Lower Farm has been open for over 20 years, initially as a BHS approved riding school, and for the last six years, an approved livery yard.
Yard manager Kate Gregory said
"This is such a great idea, we are always looking for ways to improve our service, and this is a fantastic way to get the clients together for some friendly competition and social events. The clients themselves came up with the idea for the club, and together we have planned a whole series of events for the year, with everyone helping to organize the different events. The club is open at the moment to livery clients and those who bring their horses for training with us, but we hope to expand in the future to include everyone."
The main aim of the club is to provide friendly events that promote the confidence of the clients and horses. There is something for everyone, from complete beginner riders to the more advanced.
These events include the usual dressage and showjumping competitions, but also less common events like Prix Caprilli (dressage with showjumps!), pub rides and a one day event.
Livery client, Daphne Holland who has been riding for 40 years said;
"We moved to Lower Farm for the flexible turnout, off road riding and the fact the horses come first every time. Since then, my horse, Finn has shown a flare for dressage under Katie’s tuition. Also Gareth Thomas my partner, began riding in September and is now able to take part in the riding club and compete against me. Kate and the staff have been great in supporting him.
I’ve been at Lower Farm about a year now and my thoroughbred x, Alfi has come on in leaps and bounds. He is a real character and has responded very well to the routine and care at Lower Farm. He is 21 now and looks and feels about 9 years old! We attended Lower Farm’s first jumping competition and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!"
Livery client, Karen Copley said;
"Having recently re-homed a Blue Cross horse, I selected Lower Farm quite simply for the high quality care that Kate and her team provide. My horse has been at Lower Farm for 3 months and his condition has improved week on week. This is entirely down to the care that he has received since arriving. The other attraction for me is the off-road riding. With today’s busy roads, it is an absolute must and Lower Farm gives me and my horse a safe environment in which we can ride.
I haven’t competed my horse yet, but I have enjoyed stewarding at the competitions, there is lots to do to make sure everything runs to plan!"
Kate also talks about other, non riding aspects of the club,
"We organize trips to big events like Olympia and Badminton, but we also get together for the cinema, bowling and the British summer permitting, picnics and Barbeques!
Lower Farm Stables is right on the border of Beds, Bucks and Northants and has always had an excellent reputation for providing top quality care for the horses. In fact, the stables was the first to be awarded 'British Horse Society, Outstanding Centre of Excellence' status in 2007. The stables offer a range of livery services from DIY to Full livery with schooling."

11 May 2008 - Jump Training at Lower Farm
|
We have recently set up a new Jump Training scheme at the weekends for all riders with their own horses. Sessions are aimed at all levels from the complete beginner to the experienced competitor. The sessions will be informal with a qualified instructor on hand to offer advice and support if required. Most weeks the fences will be in a grid format, with courses set up from time to time. The purpose of these sessions is for everyone to improve their jumping in a relaxed environment with as much or as little help as they need. The trainer is there to alter fences and distances for the riders so there is no need to get off if you knock down a pole!
Sessions are approximately 45 minutes long and are at 11am on alternate Saturdays and Sundays.
Only £10 per rider! Please book via the contact us page or call Kate on 01234 712692 or 07989 114413

A local horse livery stables has achieved recognition for being an outstanding centre of excellence by the British Horse Society.
This award given to Lower Farm Stables is one of only eleven given worldwide for this period in 2007. The stables, originally a riding school and now a livery yard have recently undergone a major refurbishment and now boasts all new facilities for the owners and large airy stables for the horses. The centre has also purchased an extra field ensuring all year round grazing for the horses.
Lower Farm Stables has been a British Horse Society approved centre in Lavendon near Olney for almost 20 years, standing up to rigorous spot checks by inspectors.
The Society is the country’s leading horse charity, promoting horse welfare and providing a tiered training system for riding instructors and equestrian centres all over the world.
Livery yards and riding schools are spot checked annually and approval is only given to those yards meeting the Society’s very high standards.
Kate Gregory the yard manager said;
“My staff and I are thrilled to receive this award from The British Horse Society. We have always taken great pride in providing a high quality individual service for our clients and their horses - this recognises the extra effort the staff go to, to provide an outstanding level of service for our clients.”
